The specimen lake provides superb fishing for big fish of all
species.
The water holds a large head of double figure Common and Mirror Carp
with the larger fish going well into the upper 20 lb bracket. There
are also a number of the original stock still present of unknown
sizes, but known to include over ten double figure ghosties and
commons.
The lake also contains Pike to over 30 lb, Bream into double figures
as well as large Tench and Perch to over 4 lb. This rich water is
heavily reeded and has depths ranging from 5-15 foot. There are a
number of features spread throughout the lake, which offer when
found can produce spectacular results for the thinking angler.
There are 36 comfortable swims all able to accept a bivy. The Carp
respond well to both particle baits and boilies. The bigger catches
seem to come the angler fishing over larger beds of boilies,
particularly fishmeal based baits. Trout pellets and maize in
quantities have also produced some good catches. Smaller versions of
Carp baits have produced some good bream and Tench, as has sweet
corn and pellets.
